Michael Murphy
North Shore Candidate
Born in Taihape Michael spent his childhood on a farm at Mangaweka. He joined the Royal New Zealand Navy as a Boy Seaman aged fifteen and went on to spend the greater part of his working life at sea. After twenty years plus in the Navy he served as Master and Mate on various types of vessels world wide in the Merchant Navy.
Finally swallowing the anchor, Michael is now a part time property manager, amateur actor and President of Takapuna R.S.A. He is the father of three and grandfather of eight.
A long time North Shore resident, Michael is again offering himself as the Libertarianz candidate, to give North Shore electors a real choice.
A nation can not tax itself to prosperity, nor legislate itself to happiness or morality.
Prosperity, happiness and ultimately morality are all the product of freedom, truth and justice. The basic dishonesty at the heart of the socialist system will cause it to fail.
Socialism failed in Eastern Europe just as it is crumbling in New Zealand.
We elect Governments to manage our affairs, not to rule us. Put simply the Government is the servant of the people not the master. The law must serve and treat all men equally. That which is illegal for Joe Blogs, citizen, must also be illegal for Government.
There is a better way, an honest way – the road to freedom and prosperity.
Libertarianz – the only non-socialist political party in New Zealand – offers that way.
