Taxation

Taxation is legalised theft! Your money should be left in your pocket. A Libertarianz government will abolish all duties, tariffs, taxes and levies - except income tax. As a transitional measure this will be set at 15% - with an income threshold before payment of $10,000 - until being abolished in the shortest possible time consistent with debt obligations and transitional arrangements for ending the welfare state.

Put State Sector Through Woodchipper
21 January 2010
Libertarianz leader Richard McGrath said the National Government needs to grasp the nettle and slash state spending so that taxes can be reduced across the board.

Taxes Aren't Good for Us, John!
10 July 2009
"John Key's official holiday in Niue has so far included dancing, feasts and drinking kava. When Michael Jones described Noni juice as leaving 'a bad taste, despite being good for you', Key apparently said this was 'A bit like raising taxes,' according to The Dominion Post."

Libertarianz Alternative Budget 2008
21 May 2008
The Libertarianz Party is pleased to present the 2008 Alternative Budget as a common-sense antidote to the tax-and-spend budget that Labour will present at 2 pm today. Unlike Michael Cullen, Libertarianz believes your money is your own. That's why our budget is designed to slash taxes and let you keep far more of your own money.

Treasury Incompetence or Labour Lies?
07 November 2007
"Is the Prime Minister misleading the Country or just hiring incompetents to run New Zealand's economy?" asks Libertarianz Leader, Bernard Darnton. "On many occasions, Ms Clark has justified enormous Civil Service salaries, telling taxpayers that their money must be lavished on the best people available. Yet now, the Prime Minister blames the lack of tax cuts in the past, on poor advice from Treasury officials!"

Labour's Carbon Tax: Uncertain, Bureaucratic
21 September 2007
"Yesterday the Clark Government announced their cap and trade system to be imposed upon local producers," says Peter Cresswell, Libertarianz Environmental Spokesman. "This is a system whereby a bureaucrat decides who can emit satanic gases and how much they can emit 'as of right,' after which producers must buy carbon indulgences from a supposedly developing market of such indulgences."

Libertarianz Alternative Budget 2007
16 May 2007
The LIbertarianz Party is pleased to present it's 2007 Budget as an alternative to the tax-and-spend budget that Labour will present at 2 pm today. In essence, this Budget plans the implementation of major LIbertarianz policies over five years. These include removing all compulsory taxation, selling off health assets, privatising schools, tapering off welfare, and restricting state activities to the legitimate arenas of defence, policing, law and justice.

Libz issue tax challenge to Mainstream Parties
19 August 2005
"I find it monstrous that in a bid to get re-elected, the Labour Party promises to turn a large proportion of the country into beneficiaries," says Libertarianz spokesman Peter Cresswell today in reasserting his own party's tax policy. "Tax is theft," he says. "Accordingly, Libertarianz aim to reduce the theft as soon as practically possible."

Cullen's Super-socialistic Budget is Atrocious
20 May 2005
"If you spend up hard enough be sure you'll get some voters," says Libertarianz Finance Spokesman Nik Haden, echoing that famous Nanny, Mary Poppins.

Libertarianz Take Budget Action
18 May 2005
Tonight Libertarianz will begin an organised poster campaign pointing to the banditry of this Labour government and the size of the tax take: a massive $60 billion. The poster can be downloaded from www.lp.org.nz/lotsofmaths, and readers are invited to visit and download and distribute.

Taxing Taxis Taxes Drivers
15 September 2003
State heavies from the Inland Revenue Department have begun ploughing into the taxi industry in an effort to clamp down on what they claim as 'GST non-compliance'. Libertarianz Finance Spokesman Stephen Berry expressed his horror at the IRD initiative saying, "this may result in the ruination of many taxi drivers." His remarks echo those made by Gold & Black Taxis manager Ian Gaskin.

How to Finance Government
18 May 2003
Libertarianz have received a number of responses to their 2003 Alternative Budget released last week which Libertarianz Finance Spokesman Stephen Berry answers here today.

This is a Superb Budget!
16 May 2003
Today, Libertarianz proclaimed the release of a superb 2003 budget - not Cullen's high tax, low-growth monstrosity, but the 2003 Libertarianz Alternative Budget. This Alternative Budget reduces all taxation to zero within five years.

Dunne Shafts Families
01 May 2003
"Peter Dunne's new 'Families Commission' is an absurd pointless and expensive waste of taxvictims' money," declared Libertarianz spokesmen Peter Cresswell today. "Every dollar spent on this new monument to futility is a dollar wrested from families already struggling to keep up. Dunne's family party is shafting every taxpayer in this country - and every family!"

Act's Tax Campaign for Fanfare Not for Freedom
11 April 2003
On 10 April this year, the ACT party launched a(nother) campaign for lower taxation. Libertarianz Finance Spokesman, Stephen Berry comments that "while the tax cut program is desirable as compared to the current Government direction, the ACT plan lacks any principle. The ACT party doesn't care that tax money belongs to individuals, only that it is presently 'affordable' to stop taking so much from individuals as before."
