Wayne Mapp's protest that the nation has been left defenceless with the departure of H.M.N.Z.S. Te Mana for the Persian Gulf yesterday, is simply crocodile tears, said Libertarianz Defence Spokesman and North Shore Candidate Michael Murphy today.

"Wasn't Dr. Mapp a member of the cabinet that cancelled the third and fourth Anzac class frigates? Yes he was!" Murphy reminds us.

"And has Dr. Mapp made any protest about the Mickey Mouse re-equipment of the R.N.Z.N. with useless and unsuitable vessels? No he has not!" Murphy said. "Mapp's protest that New Zealand is now defenceless is pathetic. One suspects that it is mere election-year puffery."

"A country worth defending must be able to defend itself. A Libertarianz government would equip and maintain the New Zealand military so that it is able to defend our borders."

"It's enough to make you vote Libertarianz!"
